I stopped eating my lunch and placed the fork quietly on my plate. Our Region 3 Chair, Art Farlowe was walking to the podium, and I knew the big moment was about to arrive. Anticipation had been building; the awards were about to be presented. A bit of a hush came over the pavilion ballroom at the Marriott Hotel Griffin Gate Resort, even with almost 350 advisors gathered.Last month we celebrated our advising awards with pomp and circumstance at faculty convocation. During Academic Advising Awareness week we recognized advising excellence at a reception with the president in attendance. Today's recognition of advising excellence went beyond our campus to NACADA Region 3.
Mary Brignole (Academic Counseling Center) was recognized as the 2010 Outstanding Advisor (Primary Role) from Tennessee. Rick Fischer (Journalism) was recognized as the Outsta
nding Advisor (Faculty) from Tennessee. Tracy Robinson (University College) and Melissa Campbell (Academic Status and Retention) cheered on Brignole and Fischer. Before leaving the luncheon and business meeting, there was one more piece of business.
